Fuel for Thought

Transportation is a daily necessity for millions of Americans.  While combining your trips, carpooling, reducing driving distance, and using public transportation are great ways to decrease your carbon footprint, they are not always feasible. Growing up in rural Wisconsin I regularly experienced this predicament as public transportation was often unavailable, and getting from Point A to Point B was a lot further than a 3 block walk in downtown Madison. Fortunately there are solutions to these common problems, and they can be found at the Green Drive Expo at the Alliant Energy Center this weekend!

This is a great event for the whole family that focuses on issues including climate change, air quality, sustainability, and most importantly, clean transportation.  The Expo is open from 10am to 5pm on Saturday, July 23rd and noon to 5pm on Sunday, July 24th, and a paid admission to the Dane County Fair includes a free admission to the Expo.  Unique events are scheduled throughout both days including hourly “Talk to the Owner” sessions which allows attendants to ask specific questions to owners of clean transportation vehicles.  In addition, there will be discussions on the latest in green transportation, free green vehicle test drives, MPG winning cars on display, and much more.

This Expo is a great opportunity to learn more about environmentally friendly transportation and meet individuals who share an interest in reducing their carbon footprint. Whether you want to gain tips on more sustainable transportation or you are interested in seeing the latest fuel-efficient and clean-energy vehicles, the Green Drive Expo is a great way to spend your weekend.
